Mike Maguire, P.Eng.

Michael J. Maguire, P. Eng.

With over 25 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, Michael (Mike) comes to NGAI with expertise in the management and development of high-value oil and gas projects.  He has held positions at Husky Energy, Lloyd’s Register, Technip Canada, Chevron and Atlantic Shipbuilding Ltd.  In addition, Mike has worked in various capacities on significant oil development projects such as the White Rose and Terra Nova projects in Newfoundland, as well as the Alba and Staffa field development projects in the United Kingdom.

He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the Memorial University of Newfoundland.  His professional qualifications include certification as a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom and as a European Engineer.  Furthermore, he has published two technical papers: Classification of FPSOs for Extreme Environments, as well as Terra Nova FPSO- Certification and Technical Integrity Challenges.

Mr. Maguire’s experience in international offshore energy and marine industries will benefit NGAI as he assists our clients in capitalizing on oil and gas exploration in Atlantic Canada, notably on Shell Canada and BP explorations in Nova Scotia.  His knowledge stems from extensive work within complex regulatory regimes and research and development, with particular focus on Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO).

Mike has a proven track record in achieving business objectives and maintaining efficiencies with an eye for profitability.  His strengths include project management, strategic planning and contract negotiations.  He has excellent interpersonal skills as evidenced by his ability to collaborate with peer companies and regulatory stakeholders.

Professional affiliations include membership with the American Bureau of Shipping Arctic Technology Advisory Committee, his role as Expert Reviewer for Sustainable Development Technology Canada, Chair of Canadian Standards Working Group for Offshore Floating Structures and many more.
